Thank you for visiting my page, and for being curious about who I am!!
I am originally from central NC, raised in a tiny rural town called Coats. If you have ever heard of Campbell University, my original hometown is literally down the road from that campus. My parents and other family members still live there.
After graduating from UNC-Greensboro with a degree in instrumental music education, I taught in my home county (Harnett) for my first two years of teaching. While there I taught high school orchestra, band, and chorus. I began teaching in Columbus County in 2002 (near Wilmington), and met my husband there. He was a high school band director. We got married here in Asheville in 2005.
In Columbus County I started as a middle school chorus teacher then, after 4 years, became a middle school band director. We had our daughter, Kiersten, in 2007. She was born in Wilmington. We moved to Asheville, my husband's hometown, in 2009. Our son, Nolan, was born here in 2010.
Since moving here I have served as an interim music teacher at Owen Middle (chorus) and West Henderson HS (orchestra & chorus); as a teaching assistant at Clear Creek and Dana Elementary Schools in Henderson County and Jones Elementary in the Asheville City School System; and as a 3rd grade teacher at Dana Elementary. This is my fourth year here at Bell, and I am excited at the growth of the program! I love the enthusiasm the students here have shown for music, and can't wait to see it grow even more.
